Trail of Faith Challenge

We’re so excited for your decision to join us for Trek. To help you prepare for this experience, we are challenging you to do the "Trail of Faith".

This program provides you with a set of things to work on in the coming months that will help you prepare spiritually, and physically. Use your journal to keep track of your progress on each goal.

You can download the form here.

Music

q  Memorize “Come, Come Ye Saints” (all the verses) and be prepared to share them with your trek family
q  Read the “History of “Come, Come Ye Saints”” (see “Trek Music” on the trek blog: pioneertrek2014.blogspot.com)

Physical Preparation

q  Walk/Bike/Run three (3) times per week for 30 minutes for at least one month prior to trek.
q  Drink 8-10 big glasses of water every day for at least one month prior to trek.

Family History

q  Participate in the Family History challenge in conjunction with trek – earn 50 miles
q  Find out who the first person in your family to join the church was.  Read their history or write about it.

Research your Pioneer name

q  If you have a pioneer ancestor who came across the plains, learn their story and be prepared to share it with your trek family.  Tell your ward leader the name of your pioneer before May 1st, so they can pass it on to the Stake.
q  On May 18th you will be assigned a pioneer name that you will walk for on Trek.  Read and learn about that pioneer and be prepared to share their story with your trek family.
q  Read or write a personal history from your family.

Handcart Pioneer Heritage

q  Read at least five pioneer stories (from the trek blog: pioneertrek2014.blogspot.com)
q  Watch either “17 Miracles” or “Ephriam’s Rescue” prior to the Trek fireside on May 18th.

Scriptures

q  Read the scriptures at least 5 minutes each day from March 1st until we leave on Trek.

Service

q  Read President Gordon B. Hinckley’s conference talk, “Our Mission of Saving” (Oct.1991)
q  Teach a lesson about faith, obedience and sacrifice of the pioneers: relate how it applies to you.

Come Unto Christ

q  Read Elder Ballard’s Conference Talk, “You Have Nothing To Fear From the Journey” (April 1997)
q  Think about Christ each week as you partake of the Sacrament and record in your journal your testimony of Christ.
